Don’t forget to be thankful this week

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel like Thanksgiving is simply an afterthought in the holiday spectrum. In fact, if you take a look at the ads in your newspaper this week, the real holiday is Black Friday and Thursday is really Black Friday Eve. But I, for one, am not looking past Thanksgiving as I have plenty to be thankful for this year.

As I wrote about last year, sometimes I can focus more on what I don’t have instead of being thankful for what I do have. But when I do take time and look at my life, I can find many blessings. I have a loving family, a faith that continues to grow, a career to provide for my family, and a growing audience that I get to write and talk to about a subject I have a passion for, among others. So this Thanksgiving week, I encourage you to take some time out of your busy schedule and think about what you are thankful for. It will brighten your day and make you realize that no matter your situation, you have plenty to be thankful for.

What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving weekend? If you need some encouragement in having a happy holiday season, please check out the Holiday Challenge.
